Terms of Use

Effective October 5, 2026. Version 2026-10-05.2.

About Broadser

Broadser is a free, independently maintained personal project by Ken Pan, part of Ken's Toolbox. These terms cover Broadser for Mac, the website, cloud boards, collaboration and shared links. Contact the operator through Support. The Privacy Policy explains data processing. There is no purchase, subscription or promise of ongoing cloud availability. Third-party AI services may charge you separately under your own account.

Eligibility and agreement

Cloud accounts, collaboration and hosted sharing are intended for adults aged 18 or older who can enter into this agreement. Do not create or use a cloud account if you do not meet that requirement. We do not knowingly offer cloud accounts to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact Support. The age confirmation is a self-declaration, not identity verification.

Before creating a cloud account or making cloud changes, you must affirmatively accept these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. Existing data remains available for reading, export and deletion if you decline updated terms. You can use personal Mac boards without an account. These terms are also made available with the download; merely viewing this page does not record acceptance. Mandatory rights under applicable law remain in force.

Permission to use the app

You may download and use Broadser free of charge for lawful purposes, subject to these terms and applicable third-party licenses. Free availability does not itself transfer ownership of the software, brand or other people's content. Open-source components remain governed by their own licenses, including any rights to modify or redistribute them. Do not remove required copyright or license notices. No term here restricts rights that applicable law or those licenses grant you.

Your content and account

You retain your rights in your boards, notes, images, files and other content. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions to import, upload, copy or share it, including personal information about other people. A web page being accessible does not give you permission to redistribute it. Keep your account credentials safe and report suspected unauthorized access.

When you use cloud features, you give the operator and its service providers a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, process, reproduce and transmit your content solely to operate those features and follow your sharing choices. This is not permission to sell your content or use it for advertising or to train the operator's AI models. The permission ends when the relevant content is deleted from the active service, except for copies retained for necessary security, legal obligations or provider backup lifecycles as described in Privacy. Edits contributed to boards controlled by others may remain after you leave; request a review of personal information embedded in that content through Support.

Sharing and collaboration

Only share content you are authorized to disclose. A read-only hosted link can be opened and forwarded by anyone who has it. Unlisted links and requests that search engines avoid indexing are not confidentiality controls. Members of a shared board may view content and, if given edit access, change or delete it. Invitations can be forwarded. Revoking an invitation does not remove members who already joined.

Removing access or turning off a link cannot erase copies already downloaded, exported, backed up, photographed or otherwise retained by recipients. Shared boards are not end-to-end encrypted. Avoid uploading passwords, access tokens, identity documents, sensitive health records or other material that needs stronger protection.

Acceptable use

Do not use Broadser to infringe copyright or other rights, impersonate or harass others, disclose private information without authority, distribute malware, exploit children, or conduct unlawful activity. Do not bypass access controls, attack the service, misuse credentials, or interfere with other users. Respect third-party website terms, robots/access restrictions and paid content protections. Authorized research and legally protected security reporting are not prohibited by these terms.

We may restrict cloud access or remove hosted content reasonably necessary to address abuse, credible rights complaints, security threats or legal obligations. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the action and allow you to contact Support to contest it. Repeat infringers may lose cloud access in appropriate circumstances.

Third-party websites, AI and connected apps

Broadser is a tool for organizing and viewing sources. Third-party sites, search engines, AI providers and connected apps have their own terms and privacy practices. Their logos and names identify those services and do not imply endorsement. Broadser does not grant access rights to their content or guarantee their availability.

AI can produce inaccurate information and can change or delete content when you allow tools or connected apps to act. Review outputs and changes, keep backups, and only enable services and permissions you understand. Outputs are not professional medical, legal, financial or other expert advice. You are responsible for your external service account and costs. Do not submit confidential material to a provider unless you are authorized and have checked its terms.

Availability and backups

Broadser is experimental software provided without a service-level commitment. Features may change; outages, sync conflicts, data loss and security failures are possible. Keep independent backups and export important material. Do not use it as your sole archive or in safety-critical systems. We will seek to give reasonable advance notice and an export opportunity before a planned cloud shutdown when feasible; emergency security action and third-party outages may prevent this. These terms do not promise continued access to a specific release or compatibility with every website.

Warranty and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Broadser is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or absence of errors. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits arising from use of the service.

These exclusions do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where law prohibits a limitation, or any other liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your mandatory statutory rights prevail over these terms. No blanket waiver of responsibility, compulsory arbitration or class-action waiver is imposed here.

Deletion, complaints and ending use

You may stop using Broadser at any time. Use the deletion controls described in Privacy for local and personal web data, and the shared-board owner's Delete shared board action for an owned shared board. Account deletion is a separate request through Support and can affect other Ken's Toolbox products. Identify the account and deletion scope; do not send passwords or API keys. We may need proportionate verification before changing or releasing account data.

For privacy, security, illegal-content or copyright complaints, use Support. Provide enough information to locate the material and explain the issue. A copyright report should identify the work, the hosted URL or board, your authority to report and contact details. We may request further information and review challenges from affected users. This general reporting channel does not represent that a DMCA agent has been registered or guarantee a statutory safe harbor.

Changes and applicable rights

The effective date and version identify this text. Material changes will be announced through the website or account experience before applying to future use where practicable; renewed agreement will be requested where required. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights. Applicable law determines your rights and the competent courts. These terms do not require you to waive mandatory protections in your country of residence. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions apply to the extent lawful.
